Each month we purchase carbon credits based on the number of Tonnes of CO₂e purchased from our individual and business customers.
As well as providing the best value, we select our carbon offsetting projects based on their direct and indirect impact around the world. In addition to ensuring the projects are certified to the highest standards through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER) and Certified Emission Reductions (CER) programmes, we looked to fund projects in the developing world that help provide education, employment, clean water, energy and a positive impact on the local wildlife and ecology.
We believe planting trees are one of the most sustainable ways to offset carbon - as forest projects absorb CO₂, refract the earths heat as well as having a positive impact on wildlife, ecology and biodiversity. As a result, in addition to other projects we ensure a minimum of 20 trees are planted each month for subscribers.
At Carbon Neutral Britain™ – despite the significantly higher cost - we pledge to spend up to 10% of our budget on carbon offsetting or sustainable tree planting projects in Britain, for Britain. With projects in England, Scotland and Wales, we ensure that our impact is felt at home as well as abroad.
Trust and Transparency is a core value of our organisation, and as a result all individual and business customers receive detailed information on the exact projects they have funded, but as a guide, we have included examples of some of our most recent projects from our Extensive Carbon Offsetting Portfolios below.
